Oh hey, I’m Jenna! I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m a Jesus lover, wife, and dog mama that is obsessed with capturing the timeless moments of your life on camera. My passion for photography began at the young age of 14, as a result of my chronic illness diagnosis…but I’m getting ahead of myself. When you entrust me with the task of capturing photographic memories of some of your most important seasons, it means the world to me. To bring everything full circle, I would love to share a bit of my story: how I got started in photography, and how it developed into the Flourishing Tree Photography brand that you know today…so keep scrolling, because I’m going to spill allll the tea.
How it started… It started with a chronic illness that left me homebound for most of my high school career, and even kept me home from my senior prom. So, while most girls were out finding the perfect dress to wear to prom, my parents took me instead to Best Buy to pick out my very first DSLR camera…I was ecstatic! From there it was a hobby, a creative outlet, I would take photos for friends and family, and posting to Facebook to share. Before I knew it, I had a steady stream of inquiries for family sessions, and my hobby had turned into a side hustle.
Then, in 2018, I underwent brain surgery, and that’s when everything changed! I heard the Lord so clearly opening the door to serving as a wedding photographer. So, in March of 2019 I shot my first wedding (shout out to August and Alden for trusting me to capture your special day!)
How it’s going… Fast forward to today, I’m currently booking 20 weddings a year, offering a variety of sessions to best serve my clients like: family, maternity, in home newborn, senior, business/personal branding, and MORE. Isn’t incredible how the Lord can redeem and work through the most dim of circumstances, like being too sick to go to your own senior prom?!
Now that you know my story and the story behind Flourishing Tree Photography as you know it, I’d love to know what we have in common…here are 5 fun facts about me…tell me in the comments which ones you relate to the most!
Bonus fun fact: As of 2021, Joey and I are now restaurant owners in downtown Kalamazoo. The Grazing Table officially opens on October 21, 2021 and we could not be more excited to bring charcuterie, small bites, and good conversation to our community with this space!
